ALBERTO RIGONI – THREE WISE MONKEYS – ANY AND ALL RECORDS/NIGHTMARE  – OUT NOW

“Three Wise Monkeys” is the brand new recording by Alberto Rigoni, progressive rock composer & bass player. Rigoni is best known for his work with TwinSpirits and his other project Lady & THE BASS. He got the attention of the international progressive rock fusion music scene with his previous album “Rebirth” in 2011. His third solo album is thematically centered around the Japanese folk legend of “Three Wise Monkey” and further refines the stylistic contrasts and progressive spirit characterizing his 2011 “Rebirth” release.

THREE WISE MONKEYS
The peaceful Oriental sounds from the intro “Toshogu Shrine” prepares you for the relaxing track “Mizaru”. Bass rules here, but soon Alberto gets the company off the keyboard wizardry from Kevin Moore (ex-Dream Theater) and the guitars from TwinSpirits axe man Tommy Ermolli. This track is the ultimate instrumental tune to get completely relaxed and the musicianship is of course superb. The title track is more up-beat and is blessed with the still awesome vocals from Göran Edman (ex-Yngwie Malmsteen, John Norum, Brazen Abbott). Daniele Liverani’s drummer Paco Barillà is all over this track. The sound knows some influences from the 70-80’s rock bands! The keys are hugely responsible for this link. But you can’t deny there’s a lot of progrock in the atmosphere as well! “Kikazaru” is a shorter story, that’s completely been told by the unbelievable basslines from Alberto. This is a very ZEN track and makes your mind empty by it’s special sound. “Blackened Tornado” goes back to the 70’s rock bands like Deep Purple. The keys (organ-like) are the main reason again for this flashback. “Iwazaru” is a happy sounding instrumental with a huge bass-factor. Alberto uses the bass here as rhythm section with a layer of old school keys on top. Now and then a second bass line becomes the lead bass guitar!. “Free Falling” is a funky combination of a jazzy bass with metal riffs and the vocals from Jonas. Simone Mularoni (DGM, Empyrios) delivers a true shredding solo and after this instrumental  break the song stays on the heavy side. The piano sounds from Mistheria makes “Between Space And Time” the ideal romantic background music during a diner with your loved ones! A real beautiful track! “Coming Home” harvests sensitive vocals from Jonas and the chorus is real catchy. You can even hear some flamenco guitar on this calmer track. This proggy record comes to it’s conclusion with the balladesque “Believe”.

Conclusion:
This is a record that will be a treat for the ears for all progrock lovers and people with a broad musical taste. Roberto has delivered an album again that easily can be enjoyed with the company off friends while having diner. Or place yourself in your favorite couch, put your earphones on and just enjoy this musical journey!!
