DEATH DEALER – WAR MASTER – STEEL CARTEL RECORDS – OUT NOW

DEATH DEALER – WAR MASTER – STEEL CARTEL RECORDS – OUT NOW

Death Dealer is a real allstar line up. The musicians have known each other for several years and have always valued each other as musicians before Sean and Stu created the idea about one year ago to bring Death Dealer to life! Playing in different bands over the last years all five musicians have been touring worldwide. Stu for example has been touringJapanwith the band Dungeon. Ex-Manowar Ross The Boss has been active with his solo band recently, but he is taking a break from it now.

Death Dealer  is:

Sean Peck (CAGE) – vocals
Stu Marschall (EMPIRES OF EDEN) – guitars
Ross The Boss (ex-MANOWAR) – guitars
Rhino (ex-MANOWAR) – drums
Mike Davis (HALFORD, LIZZY BORDEN) – bass

WAR MASTER
“Death Dealer” instantly makes clear what you can expect on this album. Riffs that go into overdrive from both Ross The Boss and Stu Marshall. Pounding fast drum sounds from Rhino and an out of this world vocal performance from Sean Peck. Fans of CAGE will feast on this like zombies on a new pray! “Never To Kneel” starts with a melodic guitar solo and continues in a more mainstream power metal style. Sean sings on a deeper tone and keeps his screams mostly in the closet this time around. The chorus takes an almost commercial sounding turn. It has a slightly Manowar feel. The guitars that open the title track remind me of early Crimson Glory. But after thirty seconds all hell breaks loose and we get submerged with angry, faster than light riffs and ditto drums. An almost narrating middle section takes us to a superb shredding solo. The proof that shouter and screamer Sean Peck can also sing melodic is given in the first ninety seconds of “Children Of Flames”. The song brings up memories of the mighty “Beyond The Realms Of Death” from Judas Priest and a sniff of Midnight. Even Gary Barden (early MSG era) comes to mind.

The track continues as an incredible powerful semi-ballad. “Curse Of The Heretic” is an up-tempo track, where the main riff could have been on Wild Dogs “Reign Of Terror” album. Besides the high screams, Sean throws in some lower notes and gives us some King Diamond howls! The bombastic and narrating break with the different voices gives this track an extra dimension. Mid tempo classic heavy metal is what we get during “”Hammer Down”. “The Devils Mile” is the longest track on the album and is one of my favorite ones. A true pedal to the medal with a more ‘normal’ singing Peck and astonishing fast as lightning riffs combined with thunderous drum sounds. The vocals even allow some melody to slip in! The different voices off Sean dominate “Liberty Or Death”.

“Heads Spikes Walls” is the perfect combination of the clear vocals from Sean with fast riffs and drums. The bass from Mike comes in the spotlight during the break. The break ends with an old school Helloween solo played in overdrive. Album closer “Wraiths Of  The Wind” is the most commercial sounding track on the album. Somehow the vocals remind me off the American Warrior (‘Fighting for the earth’ – era). Just listen to the chorus: “We are, we are……”.

Conclusion:
Lovers of straight and strong metal with clear and powerful vocals will love this album. So fans from CAGE can’t go around this release and will certainly get hooked on it. I find this platter to be the ultimate stress reliever. You can scream your lungs out or play air guitar until your fingers bleed! I would love to see this band in action! So keep our fingers crossed!
