Review: TWILIGHT OF THE GODS – FIRE ON THE MOUNTAIN – SEASONS OF MIST – RELEASE DATE September 27th, 2013

TWILIGHT OF THE GODS – FIRE ON THE MOUNTAIN – SEASONS OF MIST – RELEASE DATE  September 27th, 2013

In 2010 a new band was formed called Twilight of the Gods. This heavy metal institute did mostly live shows honoring the great Bathory. Now finally they decided to mold their passion for metal into a debut album with pure heavy metal.

Twilight of the Gods is:

Alan Averill: vocals
Patrik Lindgren: guitar
Rune Eriksen: guitar
Frode Glesnes: bass
Nick Barker: drums

Fire on the Mountain.
An ode to the origins of heavy metal is the best way to describe Twilight of Gods. They put down some magnificent songs in the style of early Manowar and other great 80ties nostalgic metal. Does this mean that the album is a poor attempt to clone the mighty Manowar and sounds outdated as hell?  No fucking way! They really took some time and effort in their songwriting to make an excellent album that stands out! Don’t be fooled and think it’s just a bloody nostalgic act …. This band knows how to bring their metal!

There is so much passion in this record. Take for example the vocals of Alan ( Primordial). If you thought that Alan was passionate with Primordial, well on this album he lets it all out. This man keeps surprising me with his vocal capacity.

It aren’t only the vocals who brings this record to the next level. With on guitar Patrick (Thyrfing) and Rune (Aura Noir) there is enough melodic and instrumental parts to please the ears. The rhythm section  with on bass Frode (Einherjer) and drums the mighty Nick Barker (Lock-up) makes this all to an allstar band who know how to bring a mighty metal album.

Conclusion:
Nothing new on the horizon with this album from Twilight of the Gods. They delivered exactly what they had to. They brought a great ode to heavy metal without being just nostalgic! With this album they show metal in his purest form is still relevant!
