PRETTY WILD – PRETTY WILD – DEAD END EXIT RECORDS/ROUGH TRADE – OUT NOW

Pretty Wild was founded in 2006 in Malmö. The guys wanted to play 80’s metal and recorded a three song demo. They released their first EP “All The Way” on an American label. Their debut album with the same title saw the light of day in 2008. It went straight up on the Swedish billboard list as no 1. The band did a long tour with approximately 100 live shows worldwide. After a year in the studio and cooperation with the elite of the rock music industry, Pretty Wild are now offering the new album “Pretty Wild”, released on their brand new record label: Dead End Exit Records.

Pretty Wild is:

Ivan Höglund – vocals
Kim Chevelle – bass
Axl Ludwig – guitars
Johnny Benson – drums

PRETTY WILD
Pretty WildI would like to start this review with a quote from AC/DC: “No More beating around the bush! Because these youngsters grant us glam just the way it was meant to be! Crunchy guitars, soaring vocals and catchy tunes! “Are You Ready” gets the party going. And during “Get It On” they use the good old talk box. How much more eighties can you get? Newcomer Axl Ludwig is a true axe slinger! Just lend your sleazy ears to the solo spot in “Troubled Water”. I can hear influences from Motley Crüe, but also some comparison with the discovery from 2013: De La Cruz! Their street attitude is the main reason for this latter one! Like every great sleaze or glam album you should have at least one ballad. “All I Want” is a power ballad with stunning backing and harmony vocals. But the real killer is without any doubt “High Enough”. It’s even more mellow (Firehouse – some Danger Danger), but Ivan pushed some real high notes (screams) from his lungs like Sebastian Bach used to do on the first albums from Skid Row! The more rocky side from Pretty Wild comes to the surface on tracks like “Staring At The Sun” and the ballsy “Wildheart”! “Vampire” is a slower more radio friendly track, but that doesn’t mean it’s soft! During “Come Out Tonight” we get some awesome Danger Danger riffs. The title track ends this surprisingly good album from these Swedish glamsters with a bang and in pure party arena rock style!

Conclusion:
The city of Malmö is the setting for some stunning crime series like “The Bridge”, but these guys prove that the music scene is also blossoming! There are no fillers to be found here! I would even say that you’ll find nothing but killers! This album immediately gets you in a mood to party big time and doesn’t get boring for a millisecond! Very recommended for fans of the glam and sleaze genre.
