TOXICROSE – TOXICROSE – CITY OF LIGHT RECORDS/ROCK IT UP RECORDS – OUT NOW

ToxicRose raise up from the ashes of three different Swedish bands. Bass player Goran came from Sexydeath. A band who brought kind of Marilyn Manson inspired glam rock. Guitarist Tom released three albums with the band Gemini Five. And singer Andy and drummer Michael played in Lipstixx n’ Bulletz. In 2010 they all decided to form a new band and ToxicRose was born. They released a demo in 2011 which contains two songs. Now they deliver their first official release through a division of Rock It Up Records.

ToxicRose are:

Goran – bass
Michael – drums
Andy – lead vocals
Tom – guitars

TOXICROSE

The opening track “Song For The Weak” is everything but a weak song and rocks hard. The guitars sound quite heavy and gives the glam metal on this EP a rough edge. The vocals are more sleazy in turn. The high voices from the harmonies make a great contrast with the sometimes thrashy sounding guitars. “Set Me Free” has an almost 80’s pop keyboard intro. This is a bit odd considering there isn’t a keyboard player in the line-up. Those keys are clearly present in the background during the whole song. But the guitars from Tom and especially the vocals from Andy demand your attention.”Follow Me” is a very tasty cocktail of chopping riffs, almost shred-like guitars and cheerful sounding keys. The vocals during the chorus are very powerful. All the tracks are immediately recognizable en hold catchy guitars. The symbiotic life of the crunchy guitar and the happy keys are the man attraction in “Black Bile” again. The guitar solo is simply superb on this track. “Fear Lingers On” is another track which is brewed with the same recipe and closes this surprisingly good debut EP.

Conclusion:
ToxicRose can become the next big thing if you ask me. With their special look of black & white corps paint in combination with a hairmetal outfit and hair they will attract a lot of fans. The music is a fine combination of rough vocals, great & heavy guitars and 80′ inspired keys. I look forward on hearing the next full album and would love to see these guys live on stage! You can describe them as a odd and heavier version of Pretty Boy Floyd.
